A trio admits a dup job and is charged with robbery after being captured within minutes of the assault. Police say the victim was targeted in the incident and the suspects confessed to the crime.
A report describes a violent spree in which Brown, a suspect, surrendered after a freight train cut escape routes. He confessed to robbing several south city residents of cash and watches with accomplices and claimed a ten-year criminal career. Police, led by Chief Swope, recovered details from Brown about two earlier holdups and the pursuit.
W A Stent, an employee at Timken Roller Bearing Co., was decorated with the Croix de Guerre by Captain H J Larsen Marine Corps for actions at Bouresches on June 25. Stent served as liaison, delivering messages under bombardment and later returned to America to work at the plant.
County Commissioners say no immediate plan for a new jail. Chairman J Frank Booth favors no major courthouse changes now due to costs and funds. Possible additions may add cells and rooms to the jail rear and expand sheriff quarters. A space study by Architect Epperson will guide courthouse changes but large renovations are unlikely. The NC T ticket offices and waiting rooms in the basement will stay for revenue and public convenience.
Canton Ohio machinist W. K. Hoffman seeks a wife before February 1 1920 to honor his mother's will which required marriage within two years of her death. He claims employment with the Pennsylvania Company and offers no further details beyond hoping a suitable match may arise through correspondence or a personal meeting.
Herbruck replies to P B Moock's resignation letter regarding the North West station basin contract. He denies suggesting Lander's Rotary Club leadership affected the decision and asserts city departments support the Keller Huff award. He refuses to apologize and frames the contract as a public duty matter.
SEW YORK The announcement of the wedding set for January 14 in New York of Mrs. Lyman Kendall daughter of former Governor Lallegtine of Idaho and Captain Edward Matthew Roberta of the British Royal Air Force four times wounded and Croix de Guerre with palm came as a surprise to many friends. Mrs Kendall who asked no alimony in her divorce last April was given a gift of 4 590 000 dollars plus a life annuity of 100 000 by her former husband.
In Wells on January 14, speakers at the annual dinner of probate judges discussed pension and tax laws. John Cassidy defended the pension measure, while Alexander Hadden urged parent training and child welfare. Lucia R. Od suggested considering a woman judge for hearings.
Jan 14. Convicted of robbing and shooting a ticket agent for the Fulroad at Bucyrus. William Powers, Al. Powers sentenced to twenty years in the state by the Craw- Bterman pleas court. Powers also admitted to a prior robbery on the night of the incident.

Abraham Colt, an elevator operator, went on a knife rampage along Broadway in New York City early today. He stabbed and seriously wounded three women and two men before being overpowered. He shouted about loving a woman who would not talk to him as witnesses say he attacked passersby. His sanity is under investigation.
The internal revenue office at the Postoffice Building announces that individuals liable for excise duties must file monthly returns even if no blanks are received. Planks will be available at the local office. Dayton incident reports Apolina Trapp, five, killed after being struck by a train as she crossed the B. and O. tracks.
Ohio State University students on January 14 voted for immediate peace with Germany by compromise and settling the League of Nations later. The peace proposal won 740 votes while ratification with Lodge reservations trailed at 456. 194 voted against any form of treaty.
Fire starting in a 4 rung register loft at 420 Fourth NW spread to the attic causing extensive damage. Firemen found flames bursting from an attic window and used a 45 gallon chemical tank and two babcocks to extinguish. No. 3 truck rear collided with a coal wagon damaging it. brakes failed to stop in time, according to Fire Chief Mesnar.

Deputies and Alliance police captured a copper whiskey still described as the largest found in Starkeco since July 1. They found it in a truck stuck in a Five Corners snow drift west of Alliance. Driver William Rider, 28, Akron, says a foreigner paid him $30 to move the still from Salem to Akron and that authorities were tipped off during the 27 hour ordeal.
Cincinnati reports that 2,000,600 gallons of liquor will be stored in bonded warehouses when prohibition takes effect Saturday. At bootlegger prices the liquor is worth 129 million dollars and would last about 100 years for medicinal use at current consumption rates.
Belgium has been granted a loan of 25,903,096 dollars by a syndicate led by J. P. Morgan and Co. The funds come as one and five year six percent notes to be offered for public subscription.

Vance Clipp a 23 year old deaf mute from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co was detained today in Akron in connection with the murder of Rebecca Lovell a 20 year old deaf mute in Louisville Kentucky. Clipp claimed an alibi and said he last saw her six months ago and that they parted on good terms. Police are reviewing his statement. The victim was believed killed with an axe or hatchet and her neck nearly severed.
Canton gains a new electrical supply house named Barnes Trumbull Co with offices in the Goldberg building at 272 Market Ave South. Partners W. Barnes and Ralph Trumbull act as factory representatives for Lincoln modern Achotites and Cadillac suction sweeper and will offer other electrical supplies.

A foreign man, unnamed in the report, is sought for assault with intent to kill Officer William Wise in a northeast end pool room dark weeks ago. He was captured Tuesday in Steubenville and a warrant for intent to kill forwarded to Jefferson County for Canton trial. The suspect allegedly attacked Wise, tore loose the revolver, but the cartridge misfired. Police say he may be linked to shootings of officers in Chicago and highway robberies. The case likely will be handled in Steubenville.
