George Protzman, 23, driver for The Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Co., died after his wagon collided with an eastbound Pennsylvania passenger train during a heavy snow storm. No crossing watchman was on duty at Prospect Avenue at the time, though a watchman had been provided from noon to midnight earlier. Protzman, a Canton resident, was delivering goods when the train struck at 8 25 a m. His horse survived as the harness tore free. The body was taken to Miller Blanchard for funeral arrangements. he had recently joined the tea company and was active in local church and Bible Institute circles.
