William Boing son of Mr and Mrs Henry Boing of Youngstown Hill Massillon returned home Friday from Camp Sherman where he has been in a hospital since coming from France. Boing was wounded twice in Verdun and has been in hospitals since then. He enlisted about a year ago and trained at Camp Sherman. He had overseas duty since last May.
Contempt proceedings against Canton Fertilizer and Chemical Co. were continued to Monday afternoon in Judge Harvey Ake's court. Plaintiff witnesses testified that no abatement had been made in orders issued from the plant.

Stark County soldiers form part of the American military band that played The Star Spangled Banner when President Wilson entered Rome. Eleven Stark County men, eight from Canton, are in the 332nd regiment band stationed at Treviso since October 3. The group plans to sail from Naples via Gibraltar to New York, avoiding Treviso return.
County School Superintendent J. J. Armstrong vows to stand firm as insurgent candidates win three seats on the county board. Support came from W. J. Pontius and A. C. Myers who denounced tactics by American Book Co claiming agents pressed sentiment against Armstrong for opposing the firm’s textbook push.
Lieutenant John Clauss Voges of Company H 26th Infantry returned to his North Cantour home on a 10 day furlough from Camp Sherman. He wore a blue chevron for overseas service and a gold chevron for being wounded in the Argonne front. He recounted leading a small attack on a German machine gun nest on a crest in the Argonne forest and his subsequent evacuation.
The French government pledges reverent care for Canton soldiers buried in France. While few from Canton fell, families can rest assured graves will be flowers and cared for. France expresses sympathy and gratitude to American families, honoring the soldiers who died on French soil.

Private Howard E. Smith of Air craft Acceptance Camp No. 1 returned home from Camp Sherman Saturday morning. He trained in several American aviation camps before serving in England on a Handley Paige aircraft until the armistice. He was mustered out at Camp Sherman.

Canton Actual Business College announces the start of the new term on January 6. The school invites applicants for courses in business, shorthand, and typewriting, with registration open at the campus office.

Washington Jan 4 Director General McAdoo testified before a senate committee that 1918 railway revenues reached 1 950 786 144 for July to October, versus 1 457 239 7 618 in 1917. Costs were 1 315 000 000 in 1918 and 990 195 225 in 1917, giving an operation ratio of 67.4 percent versus 67.9 percent, a slight edge for government ownership.

Civilians who buy army property and soldiers who keep or alter uniforms after discharge face arrest. Reports say overcoats have been sold and buttons removed or replaced, with discharged soldiers wearing partial outfits within 90 days.
