John C. Harmony was elected president of the board of education to succeed John H. Lehman who had chaired the board for 12 years. Lehman became vice president as Harmony took a one year term, with Lane named clerk and treasurer for 30 days amid politics over Clerk Faust’s status.
A 12 hour crime wave hits Canton with a shooting on Louisville Road, burglaries at a New Berlin store, and assaults on Emma Bennett age 14 and Stella Huppert age 12. C J Hexamer shoots at burglars after they entered his home. Police pursue a sandy haired 19 year old suspect.
Councilmen were appointed to finance and streets committees while other panels were named. The street committee will review sewer intercepts and trunk placement but no action was taken on Clerk Street. a successor must be appointed by the next meeting.
