College Coaches Back Resolutions Against Pro Football
The American Football Coaches Association adopted measures at its annual meeting in New York to cut ties with professional football beginning January 1, 1926. It urged coaches not to select All-American teams for agents or agencies and limited practice hours, with sessions starting after Sept. 18. Robert Zuppke urged a stabilizing committee to curb influence from sports writers, pro organizations, press agents, alumni, and star players. The group endorsed backing the Walter Camp memorial project and discussed a 40-play safety contest plan.
