The U S circuit court of appeals sent back to Judge A B Anderson in Indianapolis the miners unions appeal from his injunction abolishing the check-off system in the central competitive coal fields. Deputy Sheriff Gus Ehman traveled to Mansfield to transfer Fred Briggs who was refused admission to the reformatory for contributing to his young sister's delinquency. Briggs, past 21, had been sentenced by the juvenile court but officials would not accept him. He will be held until fresh papers are prepared. Judge Ake indicated Briggs will be resentenced to one year in the workhouse with a possible fine.
Charles Graver a Lorain jeweler was shot and slightly wounded during an attempted robbery of his store. The assailant entered to buy a revolver, drew a weapon as Graver moved to the safe, and a scuffle ensued before the bandit fled dropping the revolver. Graver was hospitalized for treatment.

Rev P H Welshimer of Canton joins a committee to raise 50800 for the Jessie Brown Pounds memorial chair at Hiram college for religious education and literature. The drive hopes to enlist Sunday schools and CE societies in Ohio New York and Michigan. Mrs Pounds famed author of Beautiful Isle of Somewhere and The Way of the Cross Leads Home died recently and lived at Hiram inspiring students.

Zink as trustee for the bankrupt Frank Lupson filed two suits in common pleas court to recover 4009 on notes from The 8 W Manheim Amusement Enterprises Co and 2209.12 from The Continental Insurance Co for fire destruction of a building. Pisher & McCuskey and Harry Noxsbaure represent the plaintiff.
