Students honored at McKinley high school assembly

An assembly for 314 seniors at McKinley High School honored 90 seniors averaging 85 or above for three years. Ira D. Warner spoke, followed by Wilson Hawkins and Mr Harmony of the school board. Pink carnations and Christmas carols marked the event while seniors wore carnations on their lapels.

The senior class at McKinley High chooses green and white as school colors. Senior sweaters in green were adopted adding color, while juniors mock the choice but the class of ’22 stands firm on green as the approved hue.

Scout News Urges Troops To File Reports

A notice urges city troops to submit troop news to the Junior Daily News Scout Section. If blank forms are needed they are available at the Daily News editorial office Friday 4 to 6 pm. Each troop should have a reporter. Troop No. 6 is noted for printing strong news.

Gibbs and Cedar to stage Snow White at McKinley auditorium

Gibbs and Cedar schools unite to present Snow White for two nights December 19 and 20 in McKinley auditorium. A cast of 122 from both schools rehearses under Miss Chloe Rhoda Reed, portraying Snow White and the seven dwarfs with elaborate dances and costumes.

McKinley High Girls Win Poster Prizes

Three McKinley High School girls won prizes in a Milk for Health poster contest. Mary Redman took first prize of 8 dollars, Mildred Miller earned second prize 5 dollars, and Marian Machamer received third prize 2 dollars. Posters are on display in the YWCA window.

North Girl Reserves Party and English Week Reflections

Ten girls from Miss Bergmyer eighth grade attended a party at Miss King’s home helping scrapbooks for orphans with colored pictures. They enjoyed ice cream cake and games and praised Miss King’s generosity as they departed.

McKinley High Juniors Host Hard Times Party

The McKinley High Junior class held their first social of the season last Friday. The event featured a short play titled The Man Outside, directed by Miss Grace Busby. A janitor provided comic entertainment, with refreshments in the cafeteria and dancing in the music room, while some attendees viewed photographs in the gym.

McKinley Art League Meets For December Talk

The Art League of McKinley High held its regular meeting on Tuesday December 6. Dorothy Mary spoke on Verdi’s opera Aida with Victrola records loaned by Klein & Heffelman Co. Three piano solos were performed by Susan Fisher Miriam Baehtel and Claire Bucher followed by refreshments. The next gathering will be a Christmas party.

Visitors Pack Waco School As PTA Formed

Denver Webb reports many parents attended sessions during the week of December 6 to 10 at the Waco school. A Parent Teachers Association was organized on Wednesday with officers elected led by President Mrs A J Miller and Vice President Mrs Harry Aderholt. A lunch was served and classrooms were festively decorated for Christmas.

Girls' Friendship Club Meet at McKinley High

The Girls' Friendship Club of McKinley High held a Thursday meeting at the YMCA after opening exercises. Verda Burkhart played a piano selection and Helen Le lansky sang a solo. Seniors Juniors and Sophomores then discussed the topic "Service" with Miss Ruth Lehmiller Ms Edna Shumaker and Miss Clara Schneider in charge of the respective groups.
