Jacob Jones Sunk by German Submarine in Foreign Waters
The navy said the destroyer Jacob Jones was torpedoed and sunk on December 6 while patrolling foreign waters. About 100 crew members were aboard. 37 survived, rescued from life rafts. Lieutenant Commander David Worth Bagley, brother of Mrs. Daniels, did not survive. Ten survivors were named, including John K. Richards and Nelson H. Cates.
