Belden School Opens in Hartford With 398 Students

The Henry S. Belden building at the Beldenay and Georgetown intersection opens to absorb 398 Hart­ford pupils from Hart­ford School, with a staff of 10. The modern structure houses kindergarten to seventh grade, includes a gymnasium and auditorium, and features a medical room and faculty rest area. Elizabeth Stough becomes head of the Belden school.

McKinley High Science Club Plans Future Campaign

The McKinley High Science Club held a regular meeting on December 1 to form a membership committee. Margolis chairs the group with Arthur and George Guyley named, and a future open meeting is planned for all students pursuing science. Peter Patterson chairs the fundraising committee with Switchgabel and Elizabeth Voorhis assisting.

The Girl's Friendship Club of McKinley High met Thursday at the Y W C A with Seniors in charge. Ten girls performed a musical act and readings followed by a dialogue. After supper the group worked on making dolls for the annual Christmas party for about fifty city children.

West North school notes show student activities and losses

Eighth grade visitors Mrs Fogle, Mrs Waltenbaugh and Mrs Plackett visited West North. Ruth Waltenbaugh was absent due to illness. The Milk Fairies will be held at McKinley High School. The sixth graders run a health contest with girls ahead. Miss Winkler’s third graders saved $5.66, and several third and fourth graders earned perfect attendance. The West North basketball lineup is listed and several fourth and fifth graders are named as never tardy.
