Seven men were chosen to form Canton’s water commission to study the city’s shortage and propose relief. The appointees include William R. Zollinger James A Buell Philip E Moock Henry D Pownall Clarence G Herbruck Robert B Cullin and Elmer E Cline. They will serve five year terms without pay with three members serving three years first.

Frank L Knox of Big Prairie was granted discharge on occupational grounds but listed as a farmer. The ruling signals limited consideration for appeals and sets a precedent for married men and dependents in the district.

A blaze today destroyed the Products Manufacturing Co fertilizer plant on Barren Island, a 16 acre site in New York. The fire, of unknown origin, also wiped out two tugboats and a scow moored nearby valued at about one million dollars.

Stark County Reform Bureau invites all citizens to a meeting at 108 Sixth St NW Canton Ohio rooms 202 to 208 on Wednesday evening at 7 30 o clock August 29 1917 to receive committee reports and recruit helpers for the dry campaign ahead of the November 6 election. Meetings will continue each Wednesday evening until after the election.
