Bold Bandit Turns Out To be Jitney Bus Driver
A lone man leaped from a weed patch on Market Street late Friday night brandishing a weapon and tried to stop a jitney machine carrying six Cantonians. The driver sped away and alerted police, who chased the suspect to the sheriff's office. Deputy Sheriff Dickerhoof and Sheriff Norwood confronted the man, who was revealed as Clay Richter, secretary of the Jr. O. U. M. The confrontation ended with the officers identifying the bandit as Richter.
