Washington August 25 President Wilson signals possible rejection of proposed peace terms and reservations. Senate action looms as factions debate amendments. Some senators warn a stalemate could push toward a war end resolution or delay ratification.
The Frenchman known as Quiet, aged about 40, stands charged with treason for aiding German foe Mary Cavell. Court proceedings in Belgium are set, with witnesses including Prince of Croy and other Belgians. Nurses Cavell and Thuile figures appear in testimony.

Five of nine prisoners who dug from Ohio county jail remain at large after a bold escape. They used bread knife and combs to cut through a wall and slid down a blanket rope from a 30 foot drop. Jailer Mike Fitzgerald shot two escapees, William Elliott and Jas Elliott, with Elliott later dying. others named include Ezekiel Travis, J. M. Burns, Steve Carter, Harland Holland, and James Banks.
The board of education bought 14 lots in the northeast city section for a new school site, between 17th and 18th streets and Grace and Regal avenues, from Grace Realty Company for about 6300 dollars. No building work will start there until McKinley High and McGregor schools proceed. The board may meet tonight to review bids for McKinley High and the lot abstracts.
In Cleveland Ohio two men bound and gagged 25 year old Mrs Fannie Ruppert and robbed her home of 180 dollars after choking and tying her wrists and ankles. She was found unconscious hours later by her two children when they returned from outside. Her husband had left for work earlier.
New York health officials forecast a nationwide influenza outbreak in October as people move indoors. Dr. Royal Copeland, head of the New York health department, warns of a serious death toll but less severe than last year. He urges calm and common sense to avoid infection until the disease passes.
Louis DePillo a foreign exchange dealer will be tried Thursday in Justice Heminger's court after an embezzlement affidavit was filed. He also faces nine civil suits to recover money due on promissory notes, and earlier promised to return all funds. DePillo returned to Canton after a two week absence and surrendered to authorities. The embezzlement affidavit was not withdrawn despite promises and a Monday attempt to withdraw.
The Hague authorities order Dutch goods bound for Brussels reconstruction exhibit returned to Holland amid rising anti Belgian sentiment. The Belgian foreign minister sent an order text concerning propaganda in Dutch Limburg to The Hague after a Dutch request for original confidential wording. Tensions rise over Limburg claims.

Jennie Broteky, 18, of Toledo, is killed when a car strikes a slow moving freight train at a railroad crossing in Toledo. Seven other passengers are hospitalized with injuries. Simon Penn of Detroit is not expected to live. Mrs Ren Rosenberg of Toledo may die. Fannie Brotsky, sister of the dead girl, Mose Goodman of Detroit, on honeymoon in Toledo, and David Penn, driver, are injured.

State Bank Superintendent Philip Berg reports Canton banks up 76.5 percent, while Akron leads with 98.8 percent. Statewide bank resources exceed one billion dollars, totaling 1,161,115,825 as of June 30, 1919, reflecting substantial gains in both commercial and savings deposits.
