In Sherbrooke Quebec Harry K. Thaw tells United Press he seeks justice and fair play and insists he is sane. He condemns New York for denying him a jury trial while staying in a jail hospital ward guarded by steel and wood doors.
Mrs Bettie Warden Pell sues the Long Island railroad claiming her husband with William Ainsworth and a chauffeur was fatally struck by a train. The husband aged 38 had earned an average 28000 to 30000 yearly over ten years.
Canton records its 10 day fire call drought praised by Safety Director Dunwoodie and Chief Mesnar. Officials credit regular clean up and inspections for reducing fire hazards. Canton boasts unusually low fire losses among cities of its size.
United Press reports Nan Secor, 11, daughter of George F. Secor of the New York Stock Exchange, drowned when she slipped from a yacht into the Hudson near Ossining while her father steered and her brothers watched. Despite rapid rescue efforts by her father and brothers, she did not survive.
Philadelphia reports startling disclosures after alleged conspiracy among three physicians and two trained nurses to kill babies over three to four years. Police promise further details tonight as investigators assess the case.
R. P. Tallman, a Birmingham clerk, carried a watch in his stomach for three days after placing it in his mouth while reaching for an item. Doctors pumped it out tonight and found the timepiece intact though dead. Tallman says he felt no pain and faced curious questions about his unusual experience.
United Press reports in London that the Balkan wars cost nearly one billion dollars. Belligerents spent more than 500 million, powers 400 million, and Roumania prepared for war though not fighting. Turkey led with 180 million, Bulgaria 100 million, Greece 82.5 million, Servia 70 million, Montenegro 50 million.

Wellsville reports John Warden charged with intoxication. A search of his pockets revealed multiple applications for membership in the prohibition party. He said he was working for the drys when he fell off the wagon.

The Canton playgrounds closed for the season on Saturday afternoon. All apparatus is being taken down and stored. Eli Hardenstein hosted a party at the Cook grounds for local children with ice cream and fruit. The season was the association’s most successful with higher attendance and new equipment, plus access to school playgrounds.
