Township and city leaders in Ohio wrestle with who should fund and administer aid for the needy. Two plans proposed to council involve either centralized city administration or transfer of responsibility to the Associated Charities. Officials note expenses run high as poverty deepens during the depression.
Governor Harry L. Davis urged a statewide observance of Constitution Day on September 17 to mark the 134th anniversary of the U S Constitution. He asked for special exercises to impress the significance of love of country allegiance to the flag and obedience to laws on future citizens.

Washington August 20 The house passed a tax revision bill with broad repeal and rate changes. Key points include repeal of excess profits tax effective 1922 and high income surtax reduction to 32 percent, higher exemptions for married couples and dependents, repeal of transportation taxes and most nuisance taxes, new corporation tax rate 12 percent, repeal of sporting goods tax, insurance policy tax changes, new taxes on cereals beverages citrus drinks and syrups, five percent new manufacturers tax on high priced articles, candy fur and electrical tax reductions, and foreign traders exemption for income from abroad requiring 80 percent foreign business.
Milk dealers and employees of Canton and their families will picnic Wednesday at Waynesburg grove. They will leave the Sanitary Milk Co. plant at 10 o'clock by auto and truck for the basket dinner at noon. A program of baseball and sports follows with prizes for contest winners. Milk deliveries for Wednesday will be made Tuesday afternoon at 8.

Frank vr Banhof, 62, a well to do Alliance Ohio businessman, shot himself with a large caliber revolver in a Denver private hospital where he was being treated for tuberculosis. He left a note directing relatives in Ohio on body disposal and estate.
