Yankee Bombers Score Many Hits in French Theater

American bombing planes scored 18 direct hits on a switching track and two on a round house at Conflans near noon yesterday. They returned safely after continual anti air fire and encounters with German airmen. In two air battles north of Toul, Americans downed three hostile planes. German bombers attacked across Vesle and near Funk but were repelled by anti aircraft fire. The Vesle front saw heavy fighting with gas and artillery from north of the Vesle to the Aisne.
