Edna Hague reports from Holland that Emperor William answered President Wilsons mediation offer in his own hand. He acknowledged the tender but made no promises, meeting Ambassador Gerard in the palace garden for over an hour. The scene was calm and formal as the Kaiser weighed Wilsons words and blamed Russia for the war while thanking the offer for careful consideration.
The report claims Dep uty Liebknecht and Rosa Luxemburg were executed but officials deny any socialist arrests or shootings. It states Liebknecht fights for the fatherland with others at the front and notes anti war voices were released. Berlin did not see anti war demonstrations.

Northern Ohio Traction Co. refuses to pay for pavement inspection around its tracks unless a court orders it. City service director Kent will keep Inspectors on N O T paid work and bill the company. Attorney Welty says the street opening ordinance is illegal as it conflicts with the franchise, and the city may seek court action if payment is refused. Continued on page two.

Wednesday this week marks the annual business men outing. Boat trains operate August 19 with R. M. A. outing plans. W and L E ticket office stays open until 9 o clock Tuesday night for outing tickets and Cedar Point boat tickets are urged to be purchased at the depot.

Funeral services for Walter Robinson, a former East Sparta resident, were held Monday at 1 p.m. at his mother Mrs Edith Robinsons home in East Sparta. The twenty five year old horseshoer was murdered Friday night in Cleveland. Burial is planned back in East Sparta.
