Head and legs severed by engine at cement plant switch
The body of Palo Altier, 37, a laborer at Diamond Portland Cement Co. in Middle Branch, was found with head and both legs severed after an engine backed out with cars on the switch leading into the plant. Coroner Gavin ruled it an accident likely caused by the engine missing Altier in darkness. Dominick Cavelett found the body and notified assistant superintendent George Henninger. funeral services planned for Monday. Altier is survived by a wife and family in Italy and a brother in the United States.
