Sugar prices rose to 11 to 12 cents with a five pound limit per person as Canton shoppers faced a sugar shortage affecting jelly making. Merchants expect little relief soon while wholesale beans rose and other produce prices edged down, signaling a general market drop.
A street car carrying picnickers from Marietta Ohio and Reno West Virginia crashed into a freight train engine four miles above Parkersburg West Virginia. Eight people died and about thirty were injured many fatally. Victims were removed to Parkersburg hospital. Edward Ayerson a Parkerstore merchant witnessed the tragedy and died suddenly.

John Payne a huckster at 915 Tuscarawasst was convicted of shortweight potatoes and fined the maximum 50 plus costs after testim ony by Mrs L Sanders 729 Piedmont Ave S F E that a bushel sold as 60 pounds weighed only 63 pounds. Two other arraignments were filed but evidence was struck out. Payne was arrested days ago on the complaint of City Sealer Terry Conrad.
