Delegates from New York Pennsylvania Ohio and Indiana arrive for the sixth annual national convention of the Fraternal Order of Police opening Monday at the Courtland hotel in Canton. About seventy five delegates with wives will register at the opening session as officers are elected and the convention city for next year chosen.
The 145th Infantry units arrive in Cadiz at 11 PM from Camp Perry to staff strike duties in Eastern Ohio coal fields. They replace the 166th Infantry and face a town built on steam shovel coal mining with Cadiz hosting a county Chautauqua and Teachers Institute while the men adjust to the new assignment and routines.

Dr. J P DeWitt chief of staff at Aultman hospital urged stopping the practice of moving fracture cases in cars to hospitals. He cited two weeks of cases with overlapped bones and said ambulances should be called. He noted that a bone can survive six to eight hours after injury on ground and urged first aid kits and ambulance use.
Detroit on August 12 Ryerson Sallis a 52 year old man prepared for his own funeral by ordering a coffin and dying from self administered chloroform in his brother's home Two days earlier undertaker John Armstrong discussed funeral costs with him and was asked to return later Sallis died after writing letters and instructing the undertaker to come back at midnight before his brother notified him of the death

Lincoln Neb Aug 12 Sergeant Ensel Chambers army aviator lost both hands in a mid air explosion in a plane used for dropping bombs tonight in Lincoln Nebraska He was aboard the aircraft during the bombing run and survived the incident.

In Knoxville, two deputy sheriffs A. A. Williamson and Robert Dossett died when a Southern Railway train struck their car at the Bearden crossing late today. The auto was demolished and the bodies mangled in the fatal crash.
