Iva Brahm Walks From Hospital After Mercury Poisoning

Miss Iva Brahm twenty five survived a mercury poisoning after swallowing 22 grains of mercuric chloride. She left Ingleside Hospital with a nurse and her mother, saying she felt well. Doctors Brant described the emergency treatment including water as an emetic and a stomach pump, noting the recovery was rapid and remarkable.

Rich Widow Becomes Mrs. Warren Van Slyke

Ruth Coles Hallwell Porter, once nurse to tobacco heir Charles Halliwell, married attorney Warren Clark Van Slyke in New York on Thursday. Widowed twice in six years after Halliwell’s 1906 death and a 1911 death of Will Porter, she wed Van Slyke after seeking help with her will.

Legislature to Impeach Gov Sulzer

Canton Woman Leads Catholic Drive Against Dances

Miss Mary Mathews of Canton is named to head a committee of the League of Catholic Women formed at the Milwaukee national convention to combat dances such as the tango bunny hug turkey trot and other dances deemed immoral. Other leaders include Miss Anna Maria Scranton Pa Mrs Mary Mee Crehan Columbus Ohio and Mrs Ellen Donovan Indianapolis. The federation opened with solemn mass at St Marys church followed by a delegates session and tonight speakers from Seattle and Ironton will address the gathering.

United Press reports that many Chinese rebel leaders seek refuge in Japan following Sun Yat Sen. Several arrived in Tokyo with authorities guarding them to protect against possible assassination attempts. Sun Yat Sen arrived a week earlier from Formosa and reportedly planned to visit America.
