Poe. Two bodies found in a Toledo house on August 11. Sophie Neubert 27 and Wallace Stickels 34 a World War veteran shot and killed themselves in a death pact. They were discovered on basement stairs after crawling through a window.
At a busy Cleveland intersection a truck dragged a wrap-around dress from a young girl as she stepped from the curb. The driver fled but a doorman helped remove the dress from the bumper. Police controlled traffic and freed the girl.
Isle Royale expedition sponsored by Milwaukee Public Museum penetrates the cave of skulls. Scientists aim to prove island was once Norse inhabited and that copper diggings were Norse work long before Indians and French. Dr. George A. West and George Fox announce copper mines as the most extensive ancient workings known.
Detectives hunted a labor organizer seen near the Erie railroad freight station in Cleveland yesterday. A bomb damaged a new addition under construction, with $1500 in losses as workers were finishing for the day.

Ralph Osborn of Columbus will hike 3500 miles across the United States to attend the University of Southern California. He will depart Monday and travel by way of Yellowstone National Park.

Mrs Cora Blanton a 40 year old janitress at the Boy Scouts of America headquarters in Cleveland leaped 125 feet to death today from the High Level Bridge. Her body sank in the Cuyahoga River but was recovered. A daughter said she had been worrying over debts and her husband’s illness. Patrolman Patrick Gallagher saw her climb the abutment and reached for her arm as she jumped.
Holyoke Massachusetts August 11. Miss Lawrence aunt to Mary and Margaret Gibb says no evidence supports reports that Margaret loves a Holyoke boyfriend and that separation surgery is to enable marriage. She declined to reveal her telephone talks with John R. Gibb the twins’ father in New York.
A $7,000 life insurance on Dr. Glenn Kirkwood, a veterinarian, was revealed by authorities as evidence in the case against his wife, who is jailed on a charge of killing him with a bread knife. Detectives may argue the policy and jealousy over other women do not prove motive.

Erie and Ashtabula division on the Pennsylvania Railroad returned to normal after a heavy storm east of Alliance damaged 200 feet of track near Snede's crossing. Train No. 815 derailed but wrecking crews removed coaches and locomotive. Stark Electric service also resumed after track washouts were repaired. worker Walter Belding remained hospitalized at home in Louisville.
A Moscow housing lottery plans to distribute single rooms or small apartments as prizes. A municipal housing agency expects to sell two million tickets, with $500 winning the coveted living space.

Tony Caputo 29 known to police as a gangster was shot to death in a confrontation at bootleg racketeer John Preston's rooms. Preston wounded and under guard at Elizabeth's Hospital. Caputo fired as he fell. Preston says self defense. Caputo’s car sat idly by as two men were arrested.
J C Cosgrove of Cleveland faces contempt of court in Mansfield for not letting deputy sheriffs serve divorce papers on his mother in law Virginia Stark wife of W W Stark and current plaintiff. Testimony shows deputy efforts blocked by Cosgrove before Common Pleas Judge Harrison B Ewing.
