Mrs. R. P. Abbey of Canton Brookside Country Club defeated Mrs. R. Geiger 3 up and 2 to go in a 16 hole final to win the 1927 Brookside women’s club championship. The match was tight early with Geiger leading at the fifth hole, then Abbey surged ahead to secure the title.
Funeral plans were made for 15 miners killed in an explosion at We Kentucky Coal Co mine No 7 in Clay Kentucky.
