Out of 234 tested, many seek exemption as examinations reveal slow work. Those failing to appear may be certified for service if they neglect to report within 10 days.
A local draft board announced 257 men were ordered to report and 234 were examined as fit for service with 24 holding for re-examination. Of 79 percent claiming exemptions, many may be substantiated or redirected by the appeal board. A new quota fixed for Columbus area calls for 1452 men to be taken to the Orient, with district allocations listed and doctors reporting ongoing examinations.
The service director announced that garbage collection will be fully or by Monday. A force of 15 workers with six teams and one cart per team will be employed to speed up service. The department predicted it would be abreast of the situation by midweek.

A Mt. Clemens interurban tram collided with an automobile near Detroit today killing four aboard the auto. The dead include two local men J. W. Chenard and Ralph DeCalerio and two women believed to be from Toledo.
Common pleas judges on Friday declared a state of war against Austria-Hungary Bulgaria and Turkey for the local courts. Naturalization will be held late August with notices sent to examination candidates. Judges Ake and Pontius said they will not hear applications from citizens of these enemy countries.

Miss Irene Zaiser was struck on the head by a man who fired from the slide at Meyers Lake Park on Friday.
