A July deluge floods Stark County fields with seven inches of rain. Wheat and hay suffer heavy losses while oats stay uncut and spoil in soggy ground. Much corn damaged. tomatoes and potatoes mostly spared though some yellowing appears.
The council directed City Engineer Sarver to prepare cost estimates for repaving Tuscarawas Street with brick in addition to sheet asphalt resurfacing. A report on Market widening is expected later, with plans for the depot entrance on hold pending council decision. Farmers face heavy losses from continuing rains across Stark County.
Lei cester parents in England urge Canton police to locate their son George Cooke twenty six last heard from him in July 1913 and June 1914 correspondence ceased as four brothers serve in Europe, leaving the home short of help. There is no further word from him.

Meyers Lake park hosts a P. H. C. Picnic on Wednesday August 4 with more than 70 prizes for races a free boat ride for children and dancing for adults. Everyone is welcome and the store announces a closure for the same day due to the Grocers and Butchers Picnic.
The school board moved to open a free deaf school with Carrie Jones as teacher at 1200 a year and established a physical inspection physician Dr. I B Smock at 750 a year. A free dental clinic is being prepared at McKinley school with patient care for those who cannot afford services. Lip reading will be taught and seven children are identified for the new school ahead of September opening.
Andy Bargo thirty five of Lippoast Massillon died after a boom pole weighing pounds pinned him at Stark siding of the Pennsylvania Railway Co. He was taken to Mercy hospital where he died an hour later. The coroner viewed the body at Reemsnyder's. He left a wife and two children. Dumont's store will close all day Wednesday August 4 for the Grocers and Butchers picnic.
