A blaze at the Wade Worth manufacturing plant in Detroit’s east end caused over 1 million dollars in damage. The fire started in the paint shop of the Wadsworth Company and spread to nearby businesses, with the Sibley Lumber Company incurring about 150 thousand dollars in losses and the Inside Inn Hotel being totally destroyed. Timken Roller Bearing Co. will let contracts on August 6 for a Columbus plant expansion estimated above 1.006 million dollars. The project enlarges the Columbus factory by one third, with 12 000 square feet added to relieve congestion from recent production growth. The plan includes a 600 by 300 foot main building, saw tooth layout, and nearby auxiliary structures on a 1 8 acre site. A temporary 15 900 square foot space in Columbus will host a tool room and initial bearing machines to start large production once finished. Construction aims to complete and start operation within three months.
