Pelay, with Edith Marsh of Canton, parked the vehicle while dining at a restaurant. the car allegedly rolled away, and he believed it was stolen when he returned.
Sam Miller of Columbia Heights pleaded guilty to keeping a disorderly house and received a one year sentence in the workhouse. Six months were suspended with conditions not to engage in business again in Columbia Heights and rearrest if he returns. Three girls who testified were released after 15 days detention. Miller owes the county $2,000 for a second offense liquor conviction and faces a third offense charge with possible penitentiary punishment.
Camden April 29 two men are charged with the murder of Honest John Branen wealthy circus owner slain at his Riverside home March 10. Harry Mohr of Camden Branen’s brother in law and Charles M Powell of Indianapolis were arrested after Powell confessed. Powell formerly worked with Mighty Doris Shows Branen owned. Mohr was circus business manager.
