Seven women and two men were severely injured and several passengers cut and bruised when a Canton bound freight train sideswiped a northbound street car at the Market Avenue South crossing two miles east of Akron. The Canton man Simon Zades was the only seriously hurt, hospitalized in Akron. Additional Akron and Barberton residents were injured. Officials blamed a signal misunderstanding as the cause and said the car crew could not be blamed. The incident forced a delay and the report notes the train departed Canton at 3:xx.
