The report suggests hopes that the war may end within the year as Allied and American forces intensify operations. President Wilson aims to hasten support and outmaneuver adversaries while conditions push toward a decisive conclusion.

Houser, ex campaign manager for Robert La Follette, repudiates the Wisconsin faction's course and cannot explain La Follette’s motives.
Workers prepare for a major Liberty Loan drive with Sen Atlee Pomerene and Rep Roscoe C McCulloch to speak at a Canton meeting. The event features a citywide rally, national song, and the promise of strong public support to exceed the quota despite no bond subscriptions taken at the meeting.
Canton sends several hundred laborers to join Cleveland shipyard crews. A state employment bureau notice issued Saturday sets the enlistment, with men entraining Monday night for Cleveland. A special train will transport them, meals provided on the journey as 700 men are slated to depart over the weekend.
Senator Atlee Pomerene speaking in Canton urged loyal citizens to subscribe to the Third Liberty Loan as a loan with four and a quarter percent interest. He defended war efforts noting rapid military and naval buildup and shipbuilding capacity to sustain Allied efforts and domestic security.
