Public road to Royal Gorge urged by Fremont county

Fremont county residents in Canon City and Florence push a public highway from Three Mile Spring to Parkdale and thence to the Royal Gorge top. They seek county action and private contributions, noting state funds fall short for the Royal Gorge route and stress the road’s broad benefit to Fremont taxpayers and tourism. County Surveyor Mitton believes prison labor could finish a Parkdale route via the Gorge within the requested $2,500 set-aside by the commissioners.
