Beebwith Dies After Escape From Nurses In Pueblo Sanitarium

Elton T. Beckwith, longtime Colorado state senator from Custer County, died in Pueblo after he fled his nurses and fell from a second story window. His daughter Elsie Velma Wilcox returned to Denver but was briefly overwhelmed by news and a court deposition. Beckwith, allied with Wolcott, built a cattle empire at Wet Mountain and left a notable political and ranching legacy across Colorado.

State Sunday School Convention Heads to Canon City

The twenty seventh Colorado State Sunday School Association convention will be held at First Methodist Church Canon City next Tuesday through Thursday. About five to six hundred delegates and visitors are expected for a program with plenary addresses, pastors conferences, department reports, and a Royal Gorge excursion.

Excursion from Canon City to Clyde Next Sunday

The Florence and Cripple Creek Railroad will run a Canon City to Clyde excursion next Sunday morning departing at 8 o clock. Clyde lies on the Short Line about twelve to fifteen miles beyond Cripple Creek and is famed as a picturesque Rocky Mountain spot. A large turnout of local residents is expected.
