City Council Rejects Beaver Creek Water Plan in Open Meeting

At a regular session the Canon City City Council debated a proposal by C C Hamlin and partners to build a Beaver Creek water system. The committee of the whole rejected the offer as unfair and harmful to city interests, proposing a stricter alternative including a 12 cfs supply, a welded steel pipe line, a storage reservoir, and completion by May 1 1908 with bond terms and safeguards.

Canon City Merchants Elect Five New Members

The Canon City Merchants Association held its regular meeting with good attendance. Five new candidates were elected, bringing membership to 91. A committee reported progress on water pollution efforts for the Arkansas River and a plan to form a slate for the board of directors at the annual meeting. Rev Leonard G Thompson of Denver read a brief history of the Canon City Christian church. It notes the 1867-68 organization by Rev William H Stover, 13 charter members, and initial meetings in halls before the 1892 dedication of the current building at Sixth and Harrison streets.

Carr Family Tours Canon City and Sees Grand Views

Mr C E Carr and family of Decatur Illinois visited H L Adams at Orchard Park. They praised Canon City scenery skyline boulevard and valley views calling them among the grandest sights, with Miss Echler also visiting. Mrs Carr was a bridesmaid years ago and the party planned to relocate to Ordway Colorado. Their trip ends as a remark about the Cuban Insurrection notes the last chicken killed.
