Milam County Schools Prepare Budgets For State Aid
W. E. Driskill deputy state superintendent works with Milam County officials on 39 schools applying for salary aid and equalization funds. Budgets will be mailed today as applications total 6 913 912 dollars covering salary aid transportation and high school tuition. Driskill plans visits to determine eligibility starting mid October with schools in Cameron Rockdale and other districts in eight counties.

Misses Mary and Annie Laffete led a Sharp High School Homemaking project that upgraded the northeast kitchen by adding a sink under a shortened window, built in cabinets around the fridge, and repapering both rooms. Total cost about 40 dollars. several other projects produced furniture, a bedroom improvement, a new closet, and pantry space. Food storage and meals tracked include 768 vegetables, 629 fruit, 96 preserves and jelly, 339 sauerkraut and pickles, 97 meals, 45 garments made, and 9 renovated.

Mrs. Hiram Sanders mother of N Cloud of Cameron died at her Birdseye Indiana home on Wednesday September 27. She is survived by her son in Cameron and by daughter Mrs Rhoda Berg of Birdseye and by sons Floyd John Jason and Harmon Cloud.
