Right of Way Conditoned by Court for Little River Bridge

The commissioners court voted to build a bridge over Little River near Gause if right of way is secured on the east bank. An option on a Brazos River bridge was reported for 2500 dollars, and local residents are urged to obtain east side access while the Gibson brothers donate west side rights of way. Leo Bailey Jr was jailed by Sheriff Kennedy on a disturbing the peace charge after visiting the W E Parker farm near Davilla with a shotgun and threats against his son in law Lavert Over a government cotton check the dispute grew as Bailey had ordered his daughter and son in law off his farm. The Parker family reported Bailey threatened to kill Lavert before officers intervened.

Man Robbed Thorndale Bank Given 25 Years In Texas Prison

Ralph Gresham, described as a youthful bank robber, was sentenced to twenty five years in state prison by a district court jury for the Thorndale State Bank hold up on April 18. He faced additional terms for other robberies including the Hallettsville State Bank robbery of June 14, with concurrent sentences anticipated.

Study Club for Catholes Planned by Knights of Columbus

The Knights of Columbus Lodge announces a Study Club for Catholics in Cameron. It will meet monthly or semi monthly to aid Catholics of all ages. A committee led by John C. Andres includes Ray ONeill Albert Anderle and Frank Plachy Jr to work with Rev. Henry Gottschalk or his successor on its plans.

Car Hits Train at Crossing Near Heintze Station

Jim Mullinax and companion W. T. Gann escaped serious injuries after Mullinax drove his car into a slowly moving freight train at a crossing by the Heintze filling station. Deputy Dan Gunn, on duty for a Sept 16 Mexican celebration, arrived soon after and noted Mullinax misread a lantern signal as a Mexican cigarette. Both vehicle and train were traveling slowly.

Milano robbery cleared by arrests

Sheriff Kennedy reported the arrest of Tommy Ducan in Houston on Friday. Ducan is jailed in Milam County on burglary charges linked to the July 4 J D Peeples store robbery in Milano. Also named were Frank Cates and Steve Tippitt, with Cates in Dallas County jail and Tippitt in Edinburg jail facing federal charges.

Operation on Coach Wood Not Necessary

A report from Kings Daughter's hospital in Temple said Coach Carol Wood would not need an operation. Dr. Denson told Dr. Cottle that X rays showed no operation required and Wood's condition improved rapidly, with home return in two or three days.

J D Basel of the Liquor Control Board served papers in Cameron for cancellation of Richards Bar beer license. The bar, located on the city edge, had been closed about ten days earlier by Sheriff Kennedy amid ongoing enforcement at the troubled site.

Methodist Attend Blue Bonnet Union Meet at Somerville

On Tuesday night Rev. and Mrs A J McCary and Mrs O B Horstmann led 15 Cameron Methodist young people to the Blue Bonnet Young People’s Union gathering in Somerville. Cameron had the largest church representation with 97 youths and sponsors attending. The event featured a two hour program and refreshments, enjoyed by all.

Buckholts Doctor Placed In Jail Here

Dr. W. E. Pierson of Buckholts was maced in Milam county Tuesday night and returned to Buckholts Wednesday by Constable Elimar Horstmann. A drunkenness charge was filed in Justice D. R. Criswell's court at Buckholts. Pierson had moved from Dallas about a month ago to practice medicine.

Cameron Rotary Club heard Leo Fuchs outline the growth of the poultry industry and its economic impact. He described imports from Japan, egg production in the eastern U S, and the Fuchs poultry foundation’s work in Cameron including hatchery needs of about 100,000 eggs every three weeks.
