Fire destroys barn at Ted McDonald farm North Elm
Fire raced through a barn on Ted McDonald’s North Elm farm late Thursday afternoon. A spark from a tractor grinding feed is blamed. Cameron fire brigade saved about 100 bushels of corn using water from a nearby tank.

Former Sheriff Recalls Prisoner Letter From Milam Jail
Houston based John W. Gardner wrote to Milam County pioneer and former sheriff Robert Todd recalling he was jailed 42 years ago by Todd for shooting rival Andy McMillan in a love dispute. McMillan survived wounds and later prospered in a major company. Gardner asked Todd to verify his age.
