Milam County Farm Bureau sponsors a swine program for 4-H youths with five gifts awarded to feed show and raise litters. A gilt from each litter is passed to another 4-H member and a superior gift may require purchasing from higher quality litters. Applicants write a paragraph on why they want a gift and send it to the County Extension office by Oct 20.
Mrs. Lillie Russell 80 of 816 South 2nd Street Temple died at home Wednesday night from natural causes per Justice of the Peace Joe Harrison. She moved from Cameron seven years ago. Funeral was Friday at 2 p.m. at Green Funeral Home Cameron with Rev. Darry Proffit and Rev. L. E. Snow. burial North Elm Cemetery. Survived by son Robert Elton Russell Temple daughter Lorra ine Drake Temple four grandchildren two great grandchildren and six siblings.
Six Flags Over Texas starts weekend operations for fall after a record spring and summer. Attendance through Labor Day topped 2.217 million, led by the 1.5 million dollar Texas Chute Out parachute ride, credited with driving the surge. Park hours vary by month, Saturdays 10 a.m. to midnight in September, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. in October, 8 p.m. in November, and Sundays 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. September through November.
