Cap S E Malone Returns to Texas in Postwar Homecoming
Capt. S E Malone of Genoa arrives at San Antonio District AAF Personnel Distribution Command after 15 months in Europe as a pilot. He flew 63 missions with the 9th Air Force, downed one FW 190, earned the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal with 12 oak leaf clusters, and was liberated from a European POW camp. Also noted, Cpl Hill Meyer of Arcadia completes a visit with relatives and will be stationed in Illinois.

Henry Leffel Walker Sr C Serves in Pacific United States Navy Reserve Rockdale Rt 3 is aboard the USS Weehawken which found ten Japanese on a captured Pacific island. Sailors had beer when a shell picker spotted a Jap in a cave. Shore patrol moved in with pistols and forced surrender after shots.

Funeral services for Charles Anton Walzel 55 were held at 4 p m Friday in Cameron after his death Thursday night. He was a former Public Weigher and brother of late Tony Walzel. Pfc William Worcester Killed in Action in Germany
Mrs Chas Worcester receives word from Chaplain DuBois that Pfc William M Worcester 38026690 of Company M 411th Infantry was killed near a German town when a self propelled 88mm gun opened fire on their jeep. He was posthumously awarded the Silver Star and Purple Heart. Lt Coleman was wounded. Coleman returned to the States.

Salerno Day observed by 36th Texas Infantry Division
Maj. Charles Beacham and about 1 700 soldiers of the 36th (Texas) Infantry Division marked the second anniversary of landing at Salerno. The unit, once among the bloodiest divisions, faces redeployment to the United States as replacements fill ranks. General Keyes reviewed the troops while Eisenhower’s salute was missed. the Texas flag stood with Old Glory.

Haw Haw condemned by London jury for sedition
William Joyce known as Lord Haw Haw was found guilty of sedition by a London jury and sentenced to death. He saluted the court as he left and plans to appeal. A cabinet shakeup in Japan was anticipated, and three B 29 bombers were due in Washington after a nonstop 26 hour flight from Japan.

Love Couple Set for Cameron Visit in October
