Woman Injured As Auto Plunges Into Culvert On US 77

Mrs. Bernadina Garcia Baca, 54, of Rockdale was injured when her car left US 77 north of Minerva, struck a 40 foot culvert and trapped her for 45 minutes. She was taken to Scott and White Hospital with a broken leg and lacerations after a tire blew out. She was en route to work at Scott and White Hospital at the time.

United Fund 4 in 1 Campaign Returns to Cameron

The Cameron United Fund plans four drives in October 9 through 14 city wide and a house-to-house drive October 16. Partners include American Red Cross, Salvation Army, Boy Scouts, and Girl Scouts. Red Cross blood program supports local and regional services, with 685 pints valued around 23975 dollars, yet Cameron receives only a fraction of that total.

Chamber seeks new downtown parking system

The Cameron Chamber of Commerce trade and development committee will meet to study downtown parking. Porter Young and Jerome Friesenhahn will survey merchants and coordinate with the City to create an off street plan that preserves open spaces and fits merchant needs.

Appeal for Children’s Clothes by Cameron Public Schools

Services Held For Mrs Hicks Former Cameron Teacher

Mrs. Charles M. Hicks died in an Austin hospital Sunday after a career in Cameron Public Schools through 1951. A UT graduate, she earned an MA in 1955 and served as Del Valle School librarian, curriculum coordinator, and assistant superintendent until retirement in 1966. Cameron Public Library unveils a winter timetable adding evening hours this week. The hours are Monday and Wednesday 10:30 to 12:30 and 1:30 to 5:30, Tuesday and Thursday 10:20 to 12:30 and 1:30 to 8:30, Friday 10 to 1:30, and Saturday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Milam County Wildcat Drills In Edwards Lime Area

Milam County reports a new Edwards Lime wildcat in the Tracy Sharp area, Edwards Lime test drilled by Joe Thompson of Waco with a 2000 foot depth target. Drill site on the Hawke 50 acre tract, Corsicana rig moved in, spudded last week. Clyde Bolding is drilling contractor. Thompson has 4000 acres under lease. A second wildcat, Luling No 2 Coldiron, is planned in south Milam on the same 43 acre Smith Vincent lease, 933 feet north of No 1, an 80 barrel per day producer already in operation. Additional wildcats planned include Huber/R. E. Smith No 5 and Clark/R. E. Smith No 1 in Milbur field.
