Milam Lodge No. 25 Knights of Pythias sent 22 members to Caldwell to install the 2nd rank for Caldwell Lodge No. 191. The Cameron party was welcomed and praised for a fine performance. Sam Hefley Elected to the Legislature

Sam Hefley was elected by Milam County Democrats to fill the unexpired term of D. S. Hollowell. A total of 555 votes were cast. Hefley received 528 with 27 votes for persons not on the ballot. Cameron precinct cast 45 votes, Hefley taking all. He had no opposition and is the party nominee for a two year term starting February. The special session convenes September 13.

Farewell dance at Wayside Inn on Friday night marks the sendoff for students returning to colleges. J. D. Lewis and his orchestra provide the music. Mr. Cammer has booked top Southern orchestras for fall and winter dances.

Velma Montgomery Named New Milam County Agent

Miss Velma Montgomery succeeds Mrs. Etta Ringgold as Milam County demonstration agent. She began duties Thursday as Ringgold leaves for McAllen to continue home demonstration work. Montgomery, raised near Palestine, is a Baylor College for Girls graduate with broad teaching home economics experience. Friends regret Ringgold’s departure. local civic groups and governments pledge support for Montgomery’s work.

Knights of Columbus Elect Officers at Regular Meeting

At a Knights of Columbus regular meeting held last Thursday the officer slate was chosen. Grand Knight S. B. Hess of Burlington and Deputy Grand Knight H J Schuttle of Cameron head the list with recording secretary J A Lindle of Cameron and treasurer F J Hanel of Milano. Warden Paul Dillon of Burlington serves alongside Advocate John P O'Neil of Burling and Trustee Wm Balhorn of Cameron. Meetings are scheduled for the first and third Thursdays each month.
