Rider Hurt In Motorcycle Accident At Temple Overpass

Curtis James Morgan of Route 2 Buckholts was listed in satisfactory condition after his motorcycle overturned several times on an overpass at South Ist and Loop 363 in Temple. Police say he was headed toward Heidenheimer before 2:30 a.m. when the cycle struck a curb, throwing him clear. his helmet cracked on impact and he was rushed to Scott and White Hospital.

Two Traffic Mishaps Reported For Holiday

Two accidents occurred in the county over the Labor Day weekend with some injuries. A 43-year-old Rockdale man, John L. Robertson, was treated for a minor concussion after his car hit an embankment at FM 2116 and FM 486 during a turn, possibly due to a blowout. In Cameron, a Monday crash at Fourth and Nolan injured two passengers, Dorothy Taylor and Ruby Pratt, with Mrs. Pratt treated at St. Edward Hospital and Mrs. Taylor admitted to Newton Hospital.

Firemen Respond to Grassfires and Laundry Dryer Fire

Cameron volunteer firemen answered five calls over the weekend. Four were grassfires as dry weather dried grass. Sunday responses included 300 South Austin 300 South Burleson and along Hanover Road. A dryer fire at Holloway's Laundry occurred Sunday. Monday at 6 45 p m another grassfire broke out on Old Salem Road.

First in Air Force Connie Engel Wins Wings at Williams AFB

Connie J Engel becomes one of the first women in Air Force UPT to solo a jet and her marriage to Captain Richard Engel marks the first married active duty pilot pairing in the Air Force. She will teach at Williams AFB in the T 38 Talon while Richards training continues at Edwards AFB.
