Fatal early morning crash at Highway 36 77 junction
One man, Frank Floerschinger of West Branch Iowa, died at St Edward Hospital after a crash at 6 45 am at the Highway 36 77 intersection east of the river. His wife Helen Floerschinger was critically injured along with Fe W Hardwick also of West Branch and Albert J Helmer of Pharr Texas J E Curl of McAllen Texas and Johnnie Lee Riley of Temple Texas were involved. The crash occurred when Curl moved into the truck path driven by Riley Temple Coal and Feed Mills truck sustained minor injuries. Authorities cited rain and low visibility as probable causes.

Funeral for Frank Floerchinger in West Branch Iowa
The body arrived in West Branch Iowa aboard the Santa Fe Chief for funeral services. Mrs Floerchinger, seriously injured in the Thursday morning crash at Highways 77 and 36, was in critical condition. Four others were injured but improving under the care of Dr J L Walker.

Cameron Public Schools opened for the 1950 fall term with about 330 enrolled in the high school and around 500 in Ada Henderson Grammar School. White schools total roughly 900 on opening day, with O. J. Thomas Negro School enrollment undetermined but expected near 1200 for the year. Books issued, schedules explained, and full faculty present under Superintendent W. T. Hanes as work begins Monday.

Bern Hardie Bailey son of Mr and Mrs Bob Bailey earned a BS in Agricultural Education at the summer graduation exercises on August 25 at A and M College. Murff Tyson 56 longtime Milam County resident died Sunday in a Galveston hospital after a three month illness. His body would arrive in Cameron Monday and lie in Marek Burns Funeral Home. He was a World War I veteran and a member of Veterans groups. Funeral at Maysfield Presbyterian Church led by Rev. H. M. Bailey, burial at Pebble Grove Cemetery. Pioneer Woman Injured Returning Home in Car Crash
Mrs. N. J. Smith a Cameron and Milam County pioneer was injured last Friday September 1 while returning home from a visit to Corpus Christi and Houston. The car driven by her son-in-law R L Storey hit a hidden hole on a new road near College Station causing her to be thrown from the seat. She was taken to Newton Memorial Hospital where she was reported resting well Tuesday morning.

Mrs. C. M. Mullinax died at 10 p m Sunday September 3 after six weeks illness in a local hospital.
