The American Farm Bureau Federation outlines ten platform planks advocating sound production, producer control of sales, farmer parity, rural development, and a free independent agriculture. It cites cases challenging the notion that tradition guarantees success and notes historians debunking ancient claims.
The City Council authorized 150000 in revenue bonds to purchase Community Public Service Company properties or build a competing system. Details, including election timing and value estimates by engineer Mr. Rady, will be released next week. The bonds are a lien on the plant and city property and may require taxes if profits fall short.
R G Grabein Cameron Chevrolet dealer named to the Committee of Ten for Houston used car campaigns. The Houston Zone Dealer Used Car Committee met August 25 in Houston with Grabein present to push sales and service strategies. Also announced the Joe Louis Tommy Farr heavyweight title fight film booked for Milam cinema on September 12 and 13 as part of the new Sunday Monday program.
Mr and Mrs S A Cottle and daughter Mary Ellen move back to Cameron from Navasota where Mr Cottle will work as a traveling salesman They had previously lived in Cameron while he ran a hotel Friends here welcome their return to the city.
Stanley Swift of Swift Theatres announces a new Sunday and Monday program at Milam Theatre starting September 12 and 13. The venue will run four days weekly with Friday and Saturday shows continuing. opening feature is a big time film followed by celebrated pictures.
In Milam County the August 23 election saw only 824 votes cast with all amendments passing except one. The proposal to abolish the salary system failed by 167 votes while Harris County authority to exceed the tax limit carried by 12 votes.
Thorndale businessman Giles S Summerlin announces candidacy for District 65 representative. The seat opens as Jesse James leaves to join the Treasury department in Austin. Summerlin delayed announcement until James tendered resignation dated September 1. Announcement to appear next week.

Police admit they have no clues after a Saturday night heist at Geo. A. Thomas drug store. Jewelry worth about 600 dollars vanished from two safes while trays of items were found in Dr. J. S. Hubert's lobby. Watch and diamond pieces were taken. safes were damaged and a skylight smashed as robbers escaped through the back door. A silver service also disappeared from a Presbyterian church safe.
Coach Wood announced a scrimmage with Bremond here September 17 with no admission and not a contest. It will be the first play of the season while Yeomen open with Caldwell here September 24 in their first non conference game under Inter scholastic League rules.

Joe McLean, 1936 regional Yeomen star back, heads to the College of Marshall to enroll for the fall term as a freshman. He joins football practice there Wednesday in Marshall, Texas, aiming for a spot on the junior college team.
The Yoemen began football practice on the field Tuesday after a general gathering. Coach L Wood outlined the grind ahead as 32 men reported, up from 12 last year. The 1987 squad, heavier but light overall, faces a tough schedule with Rockdale and Taylor at home and a trip to Belton.
Universal's The Road Back debuts at Cameron Theatre for a two day run. The film portrays postwar Germany and follows a journey through Milam County's farm regions and irrigation crops in Cameron Milano Gause areas.
Conoley community plans a Saturday 6 PM supper at Union Church to raise funds for its near fifty year old building. The event features ice cream, cold drinks, and an entertainment program for social and fundraising value. W D Stiles and J D Campbell announced Cameron attendance for the gathering.
