Three youths were struck by a speeding car while walking on a Buckholms sidewalk late Sunday. Leslie Sakewitz 15 and Lewis Abel 16 were hospitalized with serious injuries including a fractured skull and internal injuries. Flores Abel 18 escaped harm. The driver fled. no arrests reported.
Yeomen face Rosebud with key injuries. Gilbert sidelined by broken bottle wound. McLean, Breeding, Shirley McLean, Turner also hurt. Coach Wood assembles a remnant squad for the fifth conference game, as Cameron projects the largest crowd this year.
Robbers failed to take the $500 cash from the Maysfield Mercantile Company safe but emptied the United States Post Office of $20 in money and stamps. They knocked off the safe knob, cut alarms, and entered via ladder and sawed bars. About $80 in tobacco and cigarettes, plus sacks of rice and feed, were taken. escape was through the rear door. Post office inspectors and Sheriff Kennedy began investigations Thursday.
Funeral services were held for Mrs. Allie Whitely age 50 at her Cameron home with a later burial in Salem. Rev. Clarence Mowdy led the ceremonies after her death Friday night following months of declining health. She is survived by her husband and several children.
Contract awarded Tuesday for finishing basement rooms in the courthouse. O K Johnson of Waco is the successful bidder at 8800 dollars. Work to begin this week with rapid completion planned due to delays. The basement will provide office space and rest rooms for white and black. Government labor previously did an early excavating job.
A church invites the community to an evening prayer and a short address next Sunday at seven oclock. Parishioners are welcome to join for reflection and fellowship.
Raby Hill, sentenced to 99 years for the murder of night policeman George Richards, will face a Tuesday hearing on November 5 for a new trial application. Judge Graham Gillis scheduled the hearing as attorneys seek amendment to the motion. Hill was convicted October 15 for the September 22 slaying and remained in custody after failing to post $12,500 bond.
Roll Call Chairman Mr. Woodruff is named to lead the 1035 Red Cross Roll Call in Milam County. The appointment places Woodruff at the head of the local fundraising campaign.
The Amarillo Court of Civil Appeals ruled marble machines are not under civil court jurisdiction if gambling devices. The Waco court dissolved an injunction on marble machines in Limestone County and stated the machines are illegal. Dallas operators faced complaints to decide legality through criminal courts.
Edgar Mabe of Rockdale was arrested here Friday night by Special Officer Dan Lunsford after a chase of several blocks. He was found near a Matocha Hardware Company delivery truck from which a tire had been removed. Lunsford was retained to patrol parking lots during the Granger Cameron game. On the night of the Taylor game several cars were stripped.
F B Woodruff, Milam County Red Cross roll call chairman, announces a continued rise in membership and health and safety activities for the last fiscal year. Roll Call period for Milam County begins on a reported date.
Will Rogers final film Steamboat Round the Bend heads the Cameron Theater bill Sunday. The film stars Rogers supported by Irving S. Cobb Ann Shirley and Stepin Fetchit with Stanley Swift in a quick posthumous release. It is set along Mississippi River days and showcases the humorist in a career high performance.
New Master De Luxe and Standard Chevrolets for 1936 debut November 2 at the New York Auto Show and Cameron Grabein Chevrolet Company. The Master De Luxe features a redesigned grille hood louvres and new interior trim with knee action or conventional springing. The Standard line is completely redesigned and now mirrors the Masters in styling engineering and performance except for wheelbase.

J. M. Bowman owner of an auto wrecking station was arrested by federal officers in Cameron and taken to Austin to face charges of passing counterfeit money. J. B. Gilbert Yeomen star end was injured in school showers and will miss Friday’s game against Rosebud, weakening the team’s chances.
