Phoenician crews reached Syria and built fires on the shore using natron blocks to hold kettles. The blocks melted as heat rose, carbonate of soda fused with sand, and glass formed from the flowing material.

S. South, newly arrived from Palestine, has taken charge of the Coleman Eplen funeral firm in Cameron. He previously served with Rudolph Bros. in Waxahachie and with J. J. Riddle in Mexia, and has spent the last two years with Extrell Undertaking in Palestine. He and his wife have a family and are settling in Cameron. Also visiting are Mr. and Mrs. Robert Pool and daughter Isabelle of Dallas to see Miss Edna Sprinker and Mrs. Chas Sprott.

Ilbert Martin Sought Missing From Home

Ilbert Martin of the local post office has been missing from his home since Thursday October 21. A reward is announced for information on his whereabouts by Sheriff Blaylock. He left with his clothes and personal effects in a 1925 Chevrolet touring car. The family remains distressed and no cause is known.

Baptist Revival Set at Church to Start November 7

The Baptist church votes to host Rev. W. R. White of Fort Worth seminary for a week long revival beginning Sunday, November 7. White leads the mission department and is a college mate of pastor E. S. Hutcherson. The meeting targets church members for spiritual renewal.

American fans find China a top export market

The United States ships about one fifth of its annual electric fans exports to China. In England, Samuel Pepys' Brampton home in Huntingdonshire will be acquired by the Samuel Pepys' Club to preserve it from ruin.

City Asked to Build Market House in Cameron

The Cameron commercial club asks the city to construct a public market house for seasonal farmers to display and sell produce. A vacant lot would be roofed and rent kept nominal with self sufficiency. committee members J. B. White Fr. J. Beckerman and R. H. McIntosh will present to the council on Tuesday November 2.

George S Mangum Buried In Cameron Funeral Rites Held

Funeral services for George S Mangum pioneer resident of Cameron were held at the Baptist church Sunday afternoon. He died after a long illness at age 16 years 11 months and two days. Mangum lived in Cameron for 45 years, born February 21 1851 in Madison County Kentucky. Survived by widow Lucy Grantham and four children John E Mangum Wiley Mangum Grace Mangum and Mrs George T Graves all of Cameron. The service was conducted by Rev E S Hutcherson and drew mourners from across the region.

Legion Celebration Plans in Cameron Post No 9

The American Legion Post No 9 Cameron schedules November 11 events starting at 10:00 in the district courtroom with invocation by Rev H G Kenney and remarks by Hon I Henderson SR. A free dinner for ex-service men follows at City Park. High schools football between Yee and Rockdale resumes at Pair Park at 2:00. An 8:30 street dance closes the day's program on the court house south side.

Milam County Tragedy Claims Three in Auto and Rail Crashes

Three people die in Milam County incidents this week. William Duitt, Will Cole, and Raby Garcia perish in two separate crashes and a rail yard accident. Duitt dies after a bridge collision near Rockdale, his skull crushed and a leg broken. Cole, a 45 year old Negro, is killed when caught under a moving train at the Cameron compress. Garcia, an infant, dies in a Ford touring car rollover.

Revival meeting ends as W D Bills closes two week Austin event

Church leadership of W D Bills wraps two week revival in Austin then plans a two week campaign in Oklahoma. Cameron meeting was held on church lot slated for future building with Bills praised as minister and speaker and hoped to return next year.
