Lions Club Sets New Committee Roster for Next Year

President Acrey announced the Lions Club committees for the coming year at Tuesday’s noon luncheon. new roles include Attendance Vernon Roberts Geo Gott O H Giddings and Membership John C Young F R Dunlap Lester Glass Stanton Dossett plus more. An innovation by Twister Mike Coleman a roulette wheel encourages punctual attendance with fines or stunts.

Presbyterians Close Revival Meeting at Local Church

Dr. W. R. Hall of Corsicana closed a two week evangelistic revival at the Presbyterian church Sunday night. He previously pastored Cameron and has many friends in town. Pastor Rev. O C Acrey noted several additions to the church with more expected. The Christian church pastor attended the closing courtesy event for the departing minister.

Crop report Shows Milam cotton down from 1931 levels

Grover H. Albert of the Department of Commerce notes Milam county cotton in 1982 up to October 1 is about half the 1931 figure. Ginned bales reach 22,918 in 1932 versus 44,427 in 1931, with an estimated 1932 crop not exceeding 32,000 bales.

South Milam League concludes with champion decided

The final game of the 1932 South Milam League will be played Sunday afternoon, October 23, at a likely Sharpe location. Davilla won the first half and Sharpe the second. the Sunday game will crown the champion. Both teams field strong rosters for a hard fought curtain-raiser.

Campaign Medallions Selling In Cameron

Campaign medallions for the Roosevelt-Garner ticket are selling well in Cameron. Stanton Dossett and J. Baskin announce proceeds support the Cameron student loan fund via Lions Club. Mrs. Cecil Culpepper directs, aided by young women including Dell Horstmann and Patsy McGregor.

Local Talent Play At K. C. Hall October 28

The three act comedy Eyes of Love will be staged in Cameron Friday night October 28 at the K of C Hall. The American Legion sponsors the event with proceeds going to the Legion Post. The play starts at 8 o clock with admission of 10 and 25 cents.

Change of Venue Granted in Tucker Case Sent to Bell County

Judge Dodson granted a change of venue for J. C. Tucker in District Court. Indicted on 17 counts after Cameron State Bank closure, the case and all indictments were transferred to Bell county from Cameron. Trial had been set for October 10 with four charges standing. order sent after testimony supported the move.

Two Farmers Injured In River Road Wagon Mishap

Cook and Doss, Hoyte farmers, were hurt Thursday morning on a viaduct over Little River bottom east of the city when their wagon overturned. Cook suffered head injuries and arm injuries. Doss received a back injury. They were en route to town with cotton when a feed truck approached, spooking the mules and causing the wagon to fall off the trestle.

Bond Assumption Bill Relief Taxpayers Milam County

Auditor Giles Avriett and Judge seek relief as the Legislature passes the Bond Assumption Bill. It would aid Milam County Special Road Bonded Districts by about 500000 dollars for bonds maturing in 1933 and 1958. A Board of County and District Road Indebtedness will manage retirements, using gasoline tax funds, with possible local tax levies if needed.

Bullington Court Candidate Appeals for Texas Reform

Orville Bullington a Wichita Falls Republican candidate for Texas governor spoke in Cameron urging Democrats who backed Sterling to bolt. Cameron Receives Ballots for November Eighth Election

November election ballots and supplies arrived in Cameron and absentee voting begun per County Clerk Homer Nabours. The ballots feature seven columns for all parties and include nine amendments. Ballots printed at Rockdale Reporter plant. Absentee voting runs from three to 20 days before the election.
