Central Texans eyed clearer skies as Cameron saw 5.31 inches of rain from October 10 to Tuesday with 2.27 inches falling last Thursday. October total reaches 6.66 inches. Farmers report damaged cotton and peanuts from excess moisture while wheat and small grains start to yellow but may recover with sun. Pastures grow, awaiting colder weather.
Bremond's St Marys Parish hosts its annual home coming festival on North Main Street with barbecued meals at noon and supper, booths open from midday to midnight, and open house in the new church from noon to six. Parishioners invite the general public to attend this Sunday October 21.

Construction chief Tom Hormuth notes concrete poured and only casting unit electrical and mechanical work remains to enable seven 30 foot ingots weighing about 40 000 pounds to be cast simultaneously, a capacity unmatched by the firm’s other jumbo casting units.
A three car collision on U S Highway 190 two miles south of Temple Friday night injured six people. Glenna Ruzicka 25 Cameron in serious condition at Scott and White with head injuries, husband Dennis 28 and son Kevin 2 in good condition. Other son Dennis 4 treated and released. Emma Janicek Buckholts and Edward Billock Temple listed in good condition. Highway Patrol said Billock vehicle left on FM 3111 when crash occurred about 6 50 p m Friday.
Edwin Hardy Post No. 9 American Legion to host Veterans Day Breakfast at Simon George Hall Cameron on Monday October 22 from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. Tickets obtainable from post members or at the door.
The United Fund directs $2075 to the local American Red Cross which funds disaster relief the county blood program and emergency loans to servicemen. Blood usage totaled 607 units with Newton Memorial, St. Edward, and Richards at Rockdale consuming 41, 129, and 144 units respectively. The county produced 633 of 802 units, and a weekly pickup service transports blood to hospitals.
