Cameron Independent School District reviewed a 36 page CPA audit showing fiscal order for 1974 75 with a total budget of 1 302 247 and 95.9 percent local tax collection 99.8 including delinquents The board approved gym interior work at Yee Gymnasium, new policies on child abuse cases and a payroll deduction representative for a disability insurer Betsy Brown dissented The audit notes 286 562 50 in bonded indebtedness through 1984 and tax transfers to general funds with improvements ongoing
Milam County Grand Jury entered the September term and remained in session at press time on Wednesday. Members listed include R. D. Wise J L Banks Mrs S P Peebles Jr Mrs Monroe Marek Claude Lagrone Calvin Cobb Reese Ashley Mrs Gus Kasner C W Talbot Milton C Wise Mrs Lucille Griffin and Walter Lester.
Four accidents since Saturday night at the US 77 and 190 North interchange near Cameron. Two people died in Sunday and Tuesday crashes. injuries reported among others. First crash involved L. D. Chambers and Connie Davis with injuries to Davis and two passengers.
Milam County Farm Bureau will hold its annual convention Tuesday night October 21 1975 at 7 p m at the First Methodist Fellowship Hall Cameron Texas Members are urged to attend and bring a salad or vegetable for a covered dish supper Farm Bureau will furnish barbecue bread drinks plates and silverware Brief reports of the year s activities and resolutions to the State Convention including Farm Bureau s position on the Longshoremen s boycott of loading grain Directors will be elected for the coming year All members urged to attend and participate.
Eddie Allison becomes advertising manager and Mrs Clydell Seaton takes business side roles at The Cameron Herald. Allison comes from Keller Industries after eight years as general manager of an aluminum ladder division. Seaton has served as bookkeeper since 1973 and handles accounting, purchases, and payroll. She lives in Ben Arnold with her husband and three schoolchildren. The staff expansion adds Bess Jeter news editor and Doris White with other new roles.
Funeral for Frieda Eixman of Cameron was held at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church with Rev. John Homerstad presiding. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery. She died Thursday in an Austin hospital after a lengthy business career in Cameron. Surviving include two sons, two daughters, four brothers, three sisters, twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Marek Burns-Laywell Funeral Home managed arrangements.
