Weekend in Dallas as Martin Sees Presidents and Shows
Martin spent a busy weekend in Dallas visiting a reception and press dinner, singing solos at the Dallas Press Club, and meeting the President twice during the State Fair events. He enjoyed Shenandoah with John Raitt, kicked a soccer ball, and won a magazine. Sunday included the Bad News Bears and Six Flags, plus a meeting with Swiss Ambassador Probst who asked if he wanted to be President. White to Speak to Rotarians at Rockdale meeting
Texas Secretary of State Mark White will address the Rockdale Rotary Club at noon on Tuesday October 19 at the New Salem Home Demonstration Clubhouse Rockdale Fair Park. County halts flu shots in Texas clinics

Contributions and pledges to the Milam County youth exposition building fund total 60 000 dollars, 5 000 short of the 65 000 goal. Builders plan two new structures across from city hall with bids for foundations to come. Traffic crashes report injuries and suspects named
DPS troopers investigated two road crashes over the weekend and Cameron police handled a third. Ardondo Alvarado was injured in a one truck turnover on Farm Road 487 near Thorndale and Pedro Pado was identified as the other alien. Firemen answer three local alarms in Cameron
Cameron volunteer firemen were called out three times over Saturday and Monday morning with no serious damage reported. A barbecue pit behind the Dean Trubee home on Travis caught fire at 2 a.m. Saturday. Food on a stove caused a fire at 507 Mills at 1:15 p.m. Saturday. At 4 a.m. Monday a rug on the John Schmidt home on 18 St. caught fire causing smoke damage.
