Language and Area Students Train at MSC in War Program
About 3,000 men in training at Michigan State College under a joint Army program. Language and Area Student James Gandy of Rt. 3 is among them. 800 engineers and 300 language students attend with 1,500 aircrew soldiers and 250 veterinary students also enrolled. George Jeffry Neeley, 59, died Tuesday at Cameron Hospital. Funeral services were Wednesday at Concord Church, with burial in Concord Cemetery. He was born April 5, 1884, in Iola Texas, married Lucy Brookins in 1911, and lived in Milano and the Zion community. Surviving are his wife, a daughter Lela Mae Neeley Armstrong, two sisters Mary Vick and Nettie Smith, and two brothers L. M. Neeley and A. R. Neeley.

The old age assistance rolls show a net drop of 313 cases in September with 182,305 people on the rolls in October and total payments of 3,775,807.80 dollars averaged 20.72 per recipient. Nine hundred thirty six were removed for ineligibility and 937 died. 1,560 new names appeared. The blind rolls gain 61 people. October payments reach 112,970 dollars to 4,604 recipients averaging 24.54.
