Chas F Green’s store in cer val Texas celebrates its first anniversary this week. The owners thank customers for support during the year and plan to give away free merchandise from wholesale reps and serve coffee with treats. Mr and Mrs Green express gratitude and say bargains on better food products will continue.
J A Ely of Gause attended the World Series in New York last week between the Giants and Yankees. He stayed with his daughter and son in law Mr and Mrs Joe Moore and noted Joe Moore the series hitting hero plays for the Giants. Ely enjoyed the trip and sent a personal note to the Herald.
Joe DiMaggio of the New York Yankees reportedly confessed that for months he trained for the World Series on a regimen described as slugging tonic, cereal, ham and eggs, and toast. The quote suggests a hardy breakfast routine as part of his preparation.

Four car loads of merchandise are in the store room for a ten day sale announced this week by Green & Boedeker. Leland Green says goods are being unloaded to offer the year’s greatest bargains as prices rise. The sale runs through October 23 and opens Thursday morning.
J. D. Smalley, a paint and decorating contractor, returns to Cameron after weeks away in Yazoo City where he held the contract for a new bank building. He announces in the Herald he will resume his Cameron business.
Mr. and Mrs. F. G. Blake of Slearne will move to Cameron soon occupying the James residence as they migrate from their current address. Blake owns the Coca Cola Bottling Company and has other statewide business interests. Cameron offers a warm welcome to the new residents.
Cameron theatre hosts Shirley Temple in Heidi this Sunday with Jean Hersholt and a strong supporting cast. The Swiss Alps tale, adapted from Johanna Spyri, has critics calling Temple's performance her best. Rain Wednesday eased as Cameron residents plan a weekend cinema outing.
Miss Bess Dunham a deputy in the county clerk office is reported ill at home with a lingering illness delaying routine duties. County officials say she is under medical care and expected to recover soon.
