Knights of Pythias grand chancellor P. Beard will visit Milam Lodge No. 125 in Cameron on Monday evening October 15. A reception is planned and a large audience is anticipated for the meeting.
Henry Michalka of Cameron and member of Yee High School's Senior Class died at six this morning from typhoid fever. Funeral arrangements are pending. A fuller life story will follow next week. The community mourns for a talented and fine boy and extends condolences to the Michalka family.
Lieutenant Governor Barry Miller of Dallas will speak at a Democratic rally in Milam County on Friday night October 19 at the courthouse. Sam Hefley led the organizing efforts and expects thousands to attend from Milam and neighboring counties. Miller recently campaigned in New York and won the run off against Thomas B Love by a large margin.

W G Gillis accepted an invitation to speak for the National Democratic ticket in Lockhart on October 15 and will also campaign in Milam County. The state committee asked him to address Texas rallies for the national ticket, causing him to decline a Henderson date. Governor Sweet spoke at Henderson for Hoover, with Judge Gillis slated to speak there as well.
A brief letter from T S Henderson urges Democrats to unite after primaries and conventions. He notes differences arise in elections and expresses hope that some Democrats threatening to vote Republican for President will not follow through. He extends best wishes for the Smith Robinson, Moody Miller tickets and the county ticket.
Paul Scheihing of Rockdale pleaded guilty to negligent homicide and was fined 100 dollars and sentenced to 10 days in the county jail. The charge arose from a collision that killed the daughter of Mr and Mrs Georgie Manly at Minerva. In a separate Cameron case a black man was found guilty of negligent homicide and given five years in prison for a fatal crash on a bridge near Cameron.
